Cohort, a Solana protocol
A cohort is a token backed by a fixed basket of tokenized shares, held in a vault. Deposit the shares to mint it; return it to take the shares back. Nothing in between is priced, staked or voted on.
Each cMAG7 is backed by 0.1109 NVDAx, 0.0673 AAPLx, 0.0341 MSFTx, 0.0552 GOOGLx, 0.0482 AMZNx, 0.0113 METAx and 0.0155 TSLAx.
Every figure on this page is read from the pods below. In this preview the prices are illustrative and the network is devnet.
Each pod holds a fixed recipe of tokenized shares (xStocks such as NVDAx and AAPLx) in vaults owned by the program. The recipe is set when the pod is created. Nobody can change it afterwards, including us.
Fixed at creation. Nobody can edit a recipe.
Deposit every component in proportion and the pod mints cohorts. Return cohorts and it pays out the components. There is no swap and no counterparty: the vault either holds the shares or it doesn’t.
If an issuer pauses one stock, you can still unwrap the rest. The paused part becomes a claim ticket you redeem when it moves again.
Wrapping and unwrapping each cost a fixed fee, paid in cohorts. Most of it is burned. That leaves fewer cohorts against the same shares, so each one is backed by a little more stock. That is the whole yield.
Anyone can trigger the burn. It costs a network fee and pays you nothing, except the backing.
US exchanges run 32½ hours of regular trading a week. A cohort’s pool on a Solana DEX doesn’t close. When the pool drifts from the basket, anyone can wrap or unwrap against it and keep the difference, which pulls it back.
There is nothing to lock and no price feed to trust or attack. The price comes from arbitrage between the pool and the basket, the same pressure that keeps an ETF near its net asset value.
Each cCORE is backed by 0.084 SPYx, 0.05 QQQx and 0.0311 GLDx.
Each cMAG7 is backed by 0.1109 NVDAx, 0.0673 AAPLx, 0.0341 MSFTx, 0.0552 GOOGLx, 0.0482 AMZNx, 0.0113 METAx and 0.0155 TSLAx.
Each cDUO is backed by 0.3753 NVDAx and 0.0524 TSLAx.
Each cHALT is backed by 0.1875 AAPLx and 0.0949 MSFTx.
A cohort is only as good as the tokens in its vault. Their issuers keep powers over them, and the app lists those powers for every component.
The app is open on devnet. Wrap something, unwrap it, and read the receipt.
